|Definition: Temporary grounds maintenance staff work under the general supervision of Senior Grounds Maintenance Technicians and the Sports Field Maintenance Supervisor. Duties include a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to equipment operation, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of City parks, athletic fields, and associated facilities. The major area of emphasis for this position is ball field preparation. Must be 18 years of age. Up to 40 hours per week. Typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F. Hours may vary dramatically and will include many weekends and some evenings.
Principal Duties: The City is recruiting for temporary staff to support athletic field operations. Temporary staff working with the athletic operations will assist with preparing and marking ball fields, mowing and trimming operations, trash and athletic field clean-up, and other related athletic duties. All temporary parks staff operate a wide variety of small to medium sized equipment used in the maintenance of parks and athletic fields, such as pick-up trucks, utility carts, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, power tools, plumbing tools, etc. They also participate in a wide variety of assigned maintenance duties including repair and installation of irrigation equipment, restroom facilities, shelters, benches, concessions equipment, ballfield equipment, recreation equipment, etc.
