|DEFINITION: Facilitates program, leads activities, and constructively interacts with families (parents and children) who participate in the Abriendo Puertas and Nurturing Parenting Support Programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Assists in recruiting families from diverse backgrounds for parent support programs. Maintains contact with families by phone, email or in person to ensure program attendance. Monitors the ongoing operation of the parent support programs in order to ensure program accessibility, fidelity and participant retention. Works effectively and in a collaborative spirit with co-workers to provide exemplary customer service to the public. Provides resources for referral to other community programs and services as necessary. Facilitates weekly programs including evening and weekends. Assists in data collection and overall program planning.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a variety of community settings including City facilities. Position could also involve traveling with small groups of families to a variety of destinations. Requires the ability to hear and communicate in both oral and written form, read and understand a variety of written materials works under stress and manage multiple concurrent tasks and interruptions. Requires working alone as well as working closely with others, including the public and other community agencies. Confidentiality is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and education equivalent to one year working with children, youth and families. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of family systems, community resources and basic computer skills. Spanish required.
