13-0070 FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST. LONGMONT MUSEUM. COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPT. Hiring Rate: $9.25/hr. Part Time: Hours vary from 8 to 16 hrs/week, Fridays and Saturdays required with occasional other hours and evening as arranged for special events. No benefits
DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Museum Executive Assistant performs a wide variety of receptionist duties including public contact, information, sales, security, and assistance with administrative duties. Hours include: Fridays and Saturdays 8:45 am–5:15 pm, and occasional evenings as arranged for special events.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Serve as the Museum receptionist by greeting the public, answering front desk phone, promoting Museum activities, and providing general information about Museum exhibits, programs, and events. Handle Museum admission fees and retail sales of books and gift shop merchandise to the public. Perform data entry of Museum program registrations by phone and walk in enrollments. Run daily cash/sales reports and balance cash drawer. Maintain/update reference binders, record data of daily Museum visitation, manage Teacher Trunk rentals, and prepare bulk mailings. Open and close the Museum and assist staff with preparation for special events. Act as facility manager covering after hours events as arranged. Work in partnership with other front desk receptionists.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an indoor museum environment and requires continuous public contact and the ability to multitask and communicate effectively with the public and staff.  Frequent use of telephone and computer registration and point-of-sale system. May involve the ability to move 15-20 pounds, mobility through diverse work environments, and exposure to stress associated to varied and time sensitive tasks. Work schedule may vary.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience to completion of the twelfth grade and experience as a receptionist or general office experience working with the public. Proficiency and speed in using personal computer, and working knowledge of data entry and word processing. Bilingual Spanish/English abilities are desirable.
