|DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Recreation Center Manager, is responsible for the timely and complete care, set-up, maintenance and cleaning of the Longmont Recreation Center; 40 hours per week. Requires skill in cleaning and maintaining City facilities so that they are safe and sanitary for employees and the general public.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors; shampoo carpets; dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment; wash windows and walls; clean desks and countertops; empty and clean waste receptacles; clean restrooms, showers and locker rooms; maintain supplies in restrooms; move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for special meetings or events; replace lights and adjust shades and blinds; lock and unlock doors; open and close City buildings; responsible for building security and available for call backs during non-scheduled hours; pick up papers and other debris; maintain custodial supplies and equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This is a heavy labor position, requiring significant physical exertion to perform job duties. Work is often performed alone during non-traditional hours, including evenings or early mornings. Work may be performed in a standard office environment, an industrial environment, or in buildings with heavy public use. Work includes exposure to excessive intermittent noise, dust, silica, possible intermittent exposure to asbestos, fumes, smoke or gases, solvents, cleaning solutions, grease and oils, radiant energy, electrical energy, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of education and experience sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance and six months experience performing similar custodial duties. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with previous custodial experience.
Selection process will include complete job description review, personal interview, background investigation, criminal background check and substance screening. Applicants for this position will complete a Functional Capacity Exam.
