Equipment Technician II $3384-$4738/month
Master ASE Equipment Technician I $3835-$5369/month
Master ASE Equipment Technician II $3999-$5599/month
The Fleet Services Division has one vacant position. The Fleet Manager intends to screen, interview, and evaluate candidates for a range of positions including Equipment Technician II, Master ASE Equipment Technician I or Master ASE Equipment Technician II. An individual may be hired in at any one of these levels depending upon the qualifications possessed by the candidate.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Perform minor and major diagnosis and repairs to automobiles, trucks, and construction equipment, and vehicles specific to municipal operations including work on gasoline, diesel, small engines, and electrical, aerial, and hydraulic equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work requires physical and visual capabilities to operate passenger vehicles, trucks, and motorized equipment to operate and/or drive all City owned vehicles and equipment. Primary work is performed in shop environment, with occasional fieldwork in all temperature and weather extremes. Environment includes exposure to dust, grease, oils, solvents, fumes and gases, and hazardous waste and materials associated with repairing trash trucks. Requires heavy lifting and carrying (50 lbs. and over); pulling, pushing, stooping, reaching with both hands; walking, standing for long periods, crawling, working on back, bending, kneeling, climbing, and climbing on ladders. Requires basic communication skills to complete daily activities and interact with co-workers and other department employees, requires constant work around moving parts and machinery, and ability to enter data on the fleet computer and database system related to repairs, maintenance, and labor.

QUALIFICATIONS: Equipment Technician II: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, three years of progressive practical employment experience, plus technical training and advanced practical experience in the maintenance and repair of both diesel and gas powered equipment. Possession of a valid Colorado Class A CDL, Colorado state license necessary to conduct diesel and vehicle emission control tests, and a CFC Certificate. Master ASE Equipment Technician I: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, three to five years of progressive practical employment experience, plus technical training and advanced practical experience in the maintenance and repair of both diesel and gas powered equipment. Possession of a valid Colorado Class A CDL, Colorado state license necessary to conduct diesel and vehicle emission control tests, and a CFC Certificate. Completion of all requirements in order to be certified as an
ASE Master Mechanic in heavy truck T1–T6 or light duty A1-A8. Master ASE Equipment Technician II: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, three to five years of progressive practical employment experience, plus technical training and advanced practical experience in the maintenance and repair of both diesel and gas powered equipment. Possession of a valid Colorado Class A CDL, Colorado state license necessary to conduct diesel and vehicle emission control tests, and a CFC Certificate. Possession of two ASE Master Certifications and the ability to attain some EVT certifications within one year.
