13-0246 PUBLIC SAFETY ADMIN TEMP POOL, PUBLIC SAFETY DEPT. HIRING RANGE: $13.46-$16.15/HR. PART TIME TEMPORARY, M-F 8-5/ON-CALL, VARIED HOURS.
DEFINITION: Under the direction of a variety of supervisors, including Executive Directors, managers, and higher level administrative support staff, perform a wide range of administrative and clerical duties for different departments and divisions, as assigned per department and division needs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Duties may include some or all of the following, depending on assigned department/division's need; Perform a wide variety of routine office support work including filing, billing, checking, and recording information. Receptionist duties. Answering the phone and taking and delivering messages. Respond to the general public, giving information on department policies and procedures as required. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence. Type and proofread a variety of documents including reports, memos, and statistical charts from oral dictation, rough drafts, forms, copy notes or transcribing machine recordings. Issues, receives, types, and processes various applications, permits and other forms. Ensures confidentiality of all internal documents, files, information, or personal materials. Generates a variety of materials including general correspondence, complex documents, and memoranda.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in standard office environment.  Frequent use of technical office equipment including personal computer, document preparation equipment, telephone, and fax machines.   May involve the ability to move 15 -20 pounds, and mobility through diverse work environments.  Exposure to frequent interruptions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by additional secretarial or office administration coursework and at least three years of related administrative or secretarial experience.  Proficiency with Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe products and Outlook desired.
