|Definition: Temporary grounds maintenance staff work under the general supervision of Senior Grounds Maintenance Technicians and the Parks Supervisor. Duties include a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to grounds maintenance operations and repair of associated facilities. The major areas of emphasis for this position are grounds maintenance, sweeping, cleaning and litter removal, with additional support with horticulture and mowing operations as needed. Candidates should be self-motivated and detail oriented. Must be 18 years of age. Up to 40 hours per week. Typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F.
Principal Duties: The City is recruiting for temporary staff to support grounds maintenance, sweeping and cleaning efforts in the Longmont Downtown and Civic Center areas. Some basic gardening experience is desired such as experience with plantings, flower bed preparation, fertilizing, shrub trimming, weeding, and related work. All temporary parks employees operate a wide variety of small to medium sized equipment used in the maintenance of trees, parks, greenways, open space, and city facilities such as pick-up trucks, utility carts, pressure washers, sweepers, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, power tools, plumbing tools, etc. They also participate in a wide variety of assigned maintenance duties including repair and installation of irrigation equipment, restroom facilities, shelters, benches, playground equipment, water-based recreation equipment, etc.
