|DEFINITION: Under the general supervision of the Youth Program Leader, monitors youth, leads activities, and constructively interacts with middle school aged youth who participate in the after school program. Position will start as soon as possible. Duties will be performed at the Youth Center with the possibility of partnering with other school based after school programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Effectively works with adolescents from diverse backgrounds. Monitors the daily operation of the after school program to ensure a relaxed and fun environment is offered; enforces rules and policies; seeks and encourages input from youth regarding programs and special activities, and involves youth in planning and implementing suggestions. Monitors and leads a wide variety of special activities and events of interest to a diverse youth population. Participates in information sharing with Children and Youth Resources staff and other community networks. Works effectively and in a collaborative spirit with co-workers to provide exemplary customer service to the public.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work involves exposure to noise (30 to 60 youth of middle school age, music, and games) on a daily basis. Requires the ability to hear and communicate in both oral and written form, read and understand a variety of written materials, work under stress, and manage multiple concurrent tasks and interruptions. Requires working alone, as well as working closely with others, including the public (primarily youth and their families), business, school and church leaders, co-workers, and other youth serving professionals. Confidentiality is required. Work may require transporting youth to/from sponsored activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School degree required plus any combination of experience and education equivalent to one year working with youth. Valid Colorado driver’s license is required. Fluent bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
