13-0370 OFFICE ASSISTANT, ADMINSTRATIVE SERVICES DIV, LONGMONT POWER & COMMUNICATIONS DEPT. HIRING RANGE: $13.44-16.15/HR. REGULAR FULL TIME + BENEFITS.
DEFINITION: Perform a wide variety of routine customer service and/or general office support activities for the Longmont Power & Communications Department (LPC). Perform functions typically under the supervision of or in support of other administrative positions to achieve daily operational goals and objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Provide assistance to LPC staff by covering phones, front desk and day-to-day administrative duties.  Miscellaneous duties will include; external customer service for customers that walk in at the front desk, and customers that call in on the phone.  Review of paper and electronic publications, as well as service orders for work to be completed by LPC staff members.  Scheduling procedures and meetings, initiating service orders in utility billing system, social event coordination for internal meetings, tracking employee training hours, mail merge for customer mailings, documenting updates to the business library, checking the electronic email box and delivering emails to the appropriate personnel, general filing, reviewing cell phone bills, inputting and updating information on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and in Microsoft Word as needed, ordering specialty items, business cards, supplies, and copy paper for the department.  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in standard office environment.  Frequent use of technical office equipment including personal computer, document preparation equipment, telephone, and fax machines.   May involve the ability to move 15 -20 pounds, mobility through diverse work environments, and infrequent exposure to stress associated to varied and time sensitive tasks.  Exposure to frequent interruptions.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and 0 to one year of general office or customer service experience.  Office or secretarial courses are desirable. Selection process will include complete job description review, testing, personal interview, background investigation, criminal background check, and substance screening.
