13-0473 TEMPORARY UTILITY WORKER, OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE DIV, PUBLIC WORKS & NATURAL RESOURCES DEPT. TEMPORARY POSITION FOR APPROX 2-3 MONTHS' DURATION. M–F, 7 AM-3:30 PM. HIRING RANGE: $12-$15/HR DOQ.
DEFINITION: Under general supervision of a supervisor or senior operator, performs a variety of skilled and unskilled labor duties in the Street and Alley Maintenance, Parks and Solid Waste Divisions. This is a temporary, entry level position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Perform a variety of skilled and unskilled labor tasks; assist with trash/debris pickup and housekeeping at parks, municipal grounds and right-of-way areas; and other duties as assigned. Assist other employees in duties involving skilled and semi-skilled labor.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Ability to work outside in varying and extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces. Ability to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor. Work requires bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying, walking and standing that may be required for significant periods of time. May be required to drive city vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance. Must be age 18 or over prior to appointment. Prefer applicants with prior heavy labor experience.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License required. Selection process will include complete job description review, personal interview, criminal background check and substance screening.
